Measure What’s Standing Between Strategy and Execution

A Clearer Starting Point for Change

Before launching a new strategy or initiative, you may be asking yourself: “Are we ready to implement this change?”

The Shift Diagnostic provides that answer.

It’s a structured, data-driven assessment that measures how aligned and prepared your team is to execute on strategy, across six essential dimensions of readiness.

Built from a bank of more than 100 questions, the survey can be customized to your organization’s context and strategic priorities. In 30 questions, it reveals where confidence is strong, where alignment is uneven, and where effort will have the most impact.

The Shift Alignment Diagnostic

Every great strategy starts with clarity about context, goals and aspirations, people, beliefs, and systems.

The Shift Diagnostic captures that clarity through a fast, targeted process that balances insight with actionability.

What It Measures

Your team’s readiness is assessed across five key dimensions:

  1. Strategic Clarity: Do people understand the strategy and how they contribute to it?
  2. Identity & Values Alignment: Does the strategy reinforce who we are and aspire to be?
  3. Belief in Success: Do leaders believe this can work, and that we can make it happen?
  4. Communication & Trust: Are we communicating clearly and credibly?
  5. Cultural Readiness: Do norms, incentives, and daily behaviors support the strategy?
  6. Motivation & Commitment: Are leaders prioritizing this work in real, observable ways to demonstrate urgency?

Each dimension is measured and analyzed, producing a visual profile of strengths and friction points that can be compared across leadership groups, departments, or time periods.

What You’ll Receive

Within two weeks of launch, you’ll receive a concise, visual report and debrief conversation that will allow you to turn insight into action.

Deliverables include:

  • A 30-question customized survey for up to 50 respondents
  • A visual dashboard and readiness radar showing scores across all five dimensions
  • A 60-minute facilitated debrief with a Shift consultant to interpret results and identify next steps

Want Deeper Insights?

An optional qualitative study can be added to the quantitative diagnostic survey. One-on-one interviews are conducted and thematically analyzed to add deeper insights. Qualitative interview guides are developed after the quantitative surveys and are informed by their findings. Deliverables include a comprehensive written report with narrative analysis and recommendations.

The Shift Diagnostic highlights not only where alignment breaks down, but why, connecting data to behavioral drivers that influence performance and change.
